TWO TON ANVIL PRESENTS NEW VIDEO TO THE PUBLIC
_Report and Photos by Mario Salazar.
The Schaumburg-area based band Two Ton Anvil released their latest music video for the song 'Corruption' this summer and on Friday Nov. 5th, celebrated the release with a show to not only present it to the public, but to acknowledge and honor those who were behind the scenes and were a big part in the production of the video.
The song is one of the tracks in their 2010 self-titled debut album, and like its video predecessor, Victims (released earlier this year), deals with the crude realities of politics and one of the aspects of power & authority in the wrong hands. The clip has a movie-like element to it with an interesting storyline and twist, making it very interesting to watch even for those who [for one reason or another] may not get into the heaviness of the music. It is a very interesting sort of short-film that really gets the point across regarding corruption and the ugliness of it all, in addition to being entertaining and relevant.
The fim was shot in multiple locations throughout Chicagoland and features the band, made up by Brian Ericson, Chris Chubb and Glenn Criston, in addition to now former drummer Larry DeMumbrum. Also cast were Jeff Russo & Cyndi Caroo [from the Victims video], in addition to Paul Tietz as the main character 'Jack Kennedy' and multiple extras throughout the filming.

_The release show took place at The Tilted Kilt in Elgin, IL. and the event itself started with words from Brian Ericson (co-producer) & Chris Chubb from the band, in addition to Jeffrey Swanson, President of the band's distribution label, Dark Star Records, and Mario Salazar (yours truly) as producer and director to the video. The show was attended by several cast members including Paul Tietz, Cyndi Caroo, Katie Auerbach and Paula Salazar, in addition to other fans, members of the community and the local rock scene. As thank you's, anecdotes and acknowledgements relating to the making of the video concluded, 'Corruption' was presented to the audience via a large screen on the main stage, in addition to every screen in that upper level. It was very cool, surreal to some degree and something you don't typically see out of local acts. The version played at this event, was an extended version with an intro and rolling credits with behind-the-scenes photos shot during production.

_Immediately following, Two Ton Anvil, including new drummer Dave
Paulis, took to the stage for an energetic set of their best material,
which included Victims, Corruption, What We've Made and several other
[by now] crowd favorites which were rewarded with loud cheers and nods
of approval from those present.
_'Corruption' has been picked up by several media outlets including MTV's Headbanger's Ball, MTV 2 and Fuse among other channels, in addition to being part of the in-flight reel for Rockwell Collins, Hard Rock Cafe, 21 Royal Caribean cruise ships, Princess and Disney Cruise lines, the Chicago Bulls, the Dallas Cowboys, the Atlanta Hawks, Marriott, Hilton hotels, Pioneer, Inc., and a number of other media outlets that will be playing this video and have added it to their playlists. All in all, it was a very good evening celebrating the accomplishment of our local guys and another sign that there is good talent in Chicago and I definitely recommend you not only watch the video, but buy their album and check them out at a live show.
The video is embedded to the LEFT so you can check it out. You can also watch it on our VIDEOS section, in addition to our video channel on YouTube. I now leave you with some photos from the show. Enjoy and see you next time. |
