One of Chicago’s original veteran bands, S&M has returned to the scene after a two year hiatus. I was at their last show & I was there to mark their return! S&M is a band I have been personally following since 2000 when their EP “How the Otherside Lives” came out. S&M is an original Metal/Alternative band heavily influenced by bands such as Godsmack, 311, Stone Temple Pilots, & Alice in Chains'. They have husky guitar riffs, roaring drums, and fervent vocals. This band has been though it’s share of tough times, personal struggles & events. But though it all S&M’s line up has remained consistent since 2004.

Ryan Farrell – vocals
George Paris – bass
Tony Cecala – guitar
Dan Huff - drums
S&M had a very enthusiastic and good sized crowd at Penny Road Pub in Barrington, IL. It was apparent S&M has acquired a strong loyal fan base over the years. Fans made it very obvious that they still support the band & enjoy their performance on stage.

S&M took the stage & blew the crowd away. They were unbelievably tight & had an immense amount of energy. I have never seen such a powerful & strong come back! They performed with a vengeance! They did an all original set comprised of - Talking to the Dead, Faces, Bleed, Pieces, Gone, I’m Ok, Unfinished, Not Afraid, Let Go, and Breaking Thru. Then Ryan broke out the mega phone and they concluded with the one cover song of the night – Crackerman by Stone Temple Pilots. Their performance was perfectly executed. They have vastly developed both musically and inspirationally over the years. Everybody in the band is friendly, out going & appreciative of their fans. As soon as they were done with their set the guys were out hanging & talking with their friends & fans.
S&M has proven time & time again to the Chicago music scene you can’t keep them down & they will come back to kick your ass! They will be performing more gigs this summer in the Chicagoland area. Feel free to check them out because everybody likes to indulge in a little S&M from time to time!
